1st Quarter 2026  January 1, 2026

Hello to all our prayer warriors, friends, and supporters,

2025 has been a year for giving much praise to God for all His blessings for provisions and protection over the mission. When the gang crisis started over three and a half years ago, it was never thought it would last this long and get as bad as it has. After president Jovenel Moïse was assassinated on July 7, 2021, the gangs got much worse with control over the country. Mid-year in 2024, when the Kenya troops went into Port-Au-Prince, it looked like Haiti was going to finally get some relief from the gangs, but their progress in controlling them has been slow at best.

Turning to the situation for all Haitians, considering the lack of jobs to support themselves, the void of electricity for five years, and the extreme inflation for everything there, is at best a dire situation for many in Haiti. Melio tells me there are many in Haiti starving from lack of water and foods in which there is no immediate resolve for the problems. With all this going on, one could say what’s the use of trying? Melio and those at the mission know exactly why they keep trying. They know we serve a God who can provide the impossible which includes their basic needs and far more!

In 2025, God secured the goal to meet their needs and more. He blessed you, our supporters to be able to support the mission and through you that goal was obtained throughout 2025. As Melio always says, “With God all things are possible”! We live that promise every year and this year will be no different. Thank you all!

May each of you be blessed in 2026,

Kenny Lovelace, Treasurer

Your prayers are always needed for Haiti and the Mission

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made know to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

                                                                                                                                                                                        Philippians 4:6-7

Prayer request and Praises:

Pray for control of the gangs in Haiti
Pray for the school children, staff and congregation going to and from the mission.
Pray for new supporters to cover costs for adding and maintaining additional school grades.
Praise God for His protection over the mission.

Thank you all for your interest, commitment, and prayers for the mission. I know without
the prayers, we would not be where we are today. I praise God for each one of you.
Kenny Lovelace, Treasurer

Please share this with all your congregation, family, and friends. Prayerfully they may become interested in serving this mission with prayers and finance.

I would like to ask our supporters if you know of someone in your church or that’s familiar with Sonlight Christian Mission, who would be willing to engage on our board as the treasurer of the mission. I have been treasurer since 2013 and am looking for someone I can train to secure future years for the mission’s needs. The time consumption to do the tasks of treasure is minimal. I generally spend about one hour a week entering checks, sending out donation receipt letters and communicating with Melio through texts. I can explain this in more detail to the person interested. Everything is on QuickBooks, Excel or Word documents. I am praying for God to lead the person who has a heart to serve in this capacity to fill this need. I have been blessed for the past thirteen years to witness the many miracles and answered prayers from our great God for the mission! When I took this position from Shirley Kelley in 2013, she had done the position since its conception and did it well. Thank you for any consideration and most importantly for your prayers that God will send the right person to take on this task.

Message from Gyna and Melio to our dear supporters,

Good afternoon and thank you so much for your monthly support. Your monthly support and daily prayer mean a lot for Sonlight and my family. To tell you the truth, if you were not on your knees daily for us, we do not know what we would do in Haiti, because Haiti is not safe at all. So, Melio and Gyna want you to know how much we appreciate your time in prayer for us. Both of us strongly believe in the power of prayer. School and Church are doing fine, despite all the issues Haiti has. This year the school had six laureates (honored students) in the Government testing.

Thank you, God and you, because you always make it possible every year to provide for all the needs of Sonlight school. Many thanks from Gyna and Melio to all supporters of the school and the feeding program. A special thank you for the van, lithium batteries, and daily prayers. I cannot stop without saying thank you, thank you so much for our treasurer Mr. Kenny Lovelace. Thank you to all board members and supporters. Gyna and I will never have enough words to express our gratitude toward you for all you are doing for Sonlight and us. But we know God will bless you forever for the great job you are doing in Gonaives, Haiti. I will leave you with Col.3:23. And whatever you do, do it heartly, as to the Lord and not men.

Thank You!!! Melio

These are pictures of the missions homecoming on November 10th.  We were blessed to be able to send funds to feed the church congregation and bless them with a good meal.  God continues to provide!
