Hello to all our prayer warriors, friends, and supporters,
2023 has been a year of many trials and many blessings. Like many years in the past, Haiti has endured hardships this past year that would devastate most of us here in the states. The most detrimental issue facing them today is the lack of government operating Haiti and the overrun of gangs in all parts of Haiti. Electricity is nonexistent unless you have a generator or solar. Clean water is a precious commodity as is food and basic needs. Many are facing homelessness, some even at SCM due to excessive lack of jobs affording the ability to provide basic needs.
We have been extremely blessed at the mission with the addition of the water filtration system in 2020 which provides clean water for the mission and surrounding village to the Solar Panel system that was installed first of 2023 which provides power for the church, school, and all electrical needs within the mission. It gives individuals who attend the mission the ability to charge their cell phone which is the only means of communication, Haiti news and most importantly where and when to travel to avoid the gang’s roadblocks. We have also been blessed this year to raise 90% of the funds needed to build the school addition for the 10th to 13th grades and have constructed the block walls to date. Unfortunately, due to high inflation on goods there, they have halted construction until the Easter school break in hopes cost come back down. At that time, they will pour the cement roof.
This year has been a record year for winning souls as 110 made decisions for Christ. This was accomplished by making two significant trips to evangelize in villages in the mountain country, other shorter trips including one to the Gonaives jail where they ministered giving food and water to 550 individuals and all the mission does weekly to proclaim the greatness of Jesus. Every time they went out, they did so with the knowledge they could be abducted, robbed, raped, beaten, or killed. Their desire to serve our Lord Jesus gave them the strength to do what was not logical to do and God provided a way each time they stepped out in faith. What a testimony!!!
It is my prayer God will continue to bless the mission in 2024 and use all current supporters and send new ones to secure the needs of the mission as well as the new ones upcoming with the additional grades at the school. I know overcoming so many obstacles Satan tries to set in our path to disrupt the goals of the mission is only by the protection and grace of God and that is how we exist.
As Melio always says, thank you is never enough, but I thank each of you with all my heart!
May God bless you all throughout the new year,
Sonlight Christian Mission, INC
Your prayers are always needed for Haiti and the Mission
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made know to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Prayer request and Praises:
Pray for the control of the gangs and peace in Haiti.
Protection for the school children and staff going to and from the mission.
Pray for additional supporters to cover additional costs of adding 10th to 13th grades.
Praise God for His provision for the school addition and all the mission's needs.
Thank you all for your interest, commitment, and prayers for the mission. I know without
the prayers, we would not be where we are today. I praise God for each one of you.

These pictures show the mission in 2003 and 2023. In the top picture, you can see the church with the palm tree in front of it that is shown in the next picture. In the 3rd picture, you can see the new church which would be located to the left of the individual shoveling in the bottom picture. In all the setbacks, trials, hard times, good times, needs met and victories, God has seen Melio and the mission through so much and He continues to provide. Praise God!
I want to tell everyone how much I thank God for you and how much they all realize where their blessings come from. There is a lot of trouble in Haiti today with gangs and their control everywhere. It is only with Gods protection that the mission and all who benefit from it remain safe. They pray for us and blessings for our lives. We can do what we do for God because of what you do for God for our benefit. May everyone there be blessed in 2024 and thank you is not enough, Melio
