Sonlight Newsletter

May, 2022

Hi everyone! It is always a blessing to be able to share with you what is going on at the Mission.  So much has been taking place and we continue to see God work in everything.  His grace is sufficient and He absolutely provides our every need.  Even through the tough days we may face, there is blessing upon blessing that God pours out on His Children here in Haiti.  The Church has been flourishing.  We had 600 in attendance at our Easter Sunday Service.  To God be the Glory!

This year we have been hard at work.  We have been able to complete the driveway to walk up on to the Mission.  We were able to purchase a new freezer and stove for the kitchen as well as get new tires and battery for the Van.  We were able to get Melio a car from the States to Gonaives that has been a blessing to him and his ministry.  The Mission was able to hold a Revival on February 27th that was a big success, again, to God be the Glory.  Back in January, Melio was able to come to the States and visit with some of our Churches.  Currently, God has been providing the means for Gyna to come to the States to see her Doctors in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!

Thank you for all your prayers, love and support for Sonlight Christian Mission.

Blessings,

Kenny Lovelace

The Power of Prayer

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made know to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

- Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

Melio is coming to the States on January 15th, 2022 to visit his son, Christian, in Jew Jersey and to Preach at: Pinedale Christian Church in Winston Salem, NC, Bethany Christian Church in Dallas, GA and First Christian Church of Inverness in Inverness, FL.

He has decided to make this trip now due to his VISA expiring in March of this year and with the Government currently stating that they will not renew Haitian VISA's again until 2023.

Please be in prayer for his trip and safe passage to and from Haiti.

A Note from Melio and Gyna

Greetings from Melio and Gyna,

Happy New Year and thanks to everyone for all you are going for us.  The staff, teachers and congregation send Happy New Year's and Thanks for their Salaries and Bonus.  The Children also send thanks for their meals and education.  They received their Report Cards on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 and they have done very well with their Grades.  May you all have a very blessed year!

Gyna is doing better with her pain after her last trip to the states and getting shots in her back.  We praise God for blessing her with little pain these days.  In His name, Gyna and I say THANK YOU for all you are doing for Sonlight.

I Always Thank God for our Supporters,

Melio Jean

Missional Goals

"And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

- Philippians 4:19 NKJV

We will not be in line with SCM Goals if I do not take the time to elaborate that some of our original goals have not yet been met to date.  Those Goals were to Build a Church, Build a School along with a Medical Clinic to serve the Community of Gonaives.

What we have achieved is this:  We have met the needs of the Church in February, 2018 by building a New Church that is about four times larger than the original Church. Praise be to God!

We started our School in the Fall of 2011 and have been able to accommodate more classes from offering 5 grade levels to 6.  In 2019 we decided to add a Class Grade each year and at the start of the 2021-2022 School Year we were able to add the 9th Grade.  It is SCM's desire to continue adding Grade Levels each year until all 12 Grades are present within our School.  In order to achieve this, it costs approximately $975.00 additional needed funds monthly to add a Class Grade.  Breaking that down, it looks like this; $500.00 is for a Teacher's Monthly Salary,  $345.00 to provided Lunches for that Class Level and $135.00 to give Uniforms, Books and School Start up for Students attending.

We rely on God to provide these needs.  Melio shares with us that we must be patient, God will provide. May we continue to serve Jesus as He speaks to us in ways of meeting our Goals.
